Vortex is a simple utilitarian structure that could be easily placed within regular municipal list of infrastructural objects, like benches, street lamps or playgrounds. It's purpose is to link the neglected boulevard going along Plovdiv's Marica river with an almost untouched and unavailable riverbed. Traditionally, Marica is perceived by it's authorities and most possibly by the very citizens, as danger zone due to it varying water levels. This approach led to what Marica is today: a forgotten potential that plays a role of an urban division. One Architecture Week organizer asked for a way to bring back the river to the city- different attempts took place during the festival in September 2015. Vortex is one of them and due to the simple fact that it can be easily dismantled and put back in different locations, it has a big chance to come back on other occasions!
